2023 ANZSA Sarcoma Research Grant Recipient - Dr. Minh-Son To
Introducing Dr. Minh-Son To, one of the four ANZSA sarcoma research grant recipients of 2023! Dr. To is receiving funding from ANZSA and Rainbows for Kate Foundation for his project, Improving the radiological evaluation of bone and soft tissue sarcomas with advanced diffusion imaging and artificial intelligence.
Dr To is an Early Career Clinician-Scientist at Flinders University and Radiology Registrar at South Australia Medical Imaging. His research is focused on applying machine learning to medical imaging analysis and he also has an interest in novel MRI techniques. Dr To's project will explore the diagnostic utility of diffusion weighted-MRI in the imaging evaluation of sarcomas.
The project will combine diffusion imaging with artificial intelligence analysis to differentiate between benign and malignant soft tissue and bone tumours, predict histological grade, and identify regions of higher-grade disease within a sarcoma. Enhanced imaging workup of sarcomas will improve the diagnostic yield of invasive biopsies as well as improve the safety of sarcoma.
ANZSA and Rainbows for Kate look forward to seeing the results of Dr. To’s project in the future.
