Welcoming Robert Preece to the Consumer Advisory Panel

We are thrilled to welcome Dr Robert Preece to our incredible team of consumer advisors on the Consumer Advisory Panel. His appointment was announced earlier this month at our Annual Scientific Meeting, and we are excited to have him on board.

In 2023, Rob was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma in his right thigh. As part of his treatment, he participated in a clinical trial and has developed a deep appreciation for the potential benefits of advancing treatments for future patients. During his ninth-month post-surgical review, Rob was also diagnosed with an unrelated prostate cancer, which highlighted for him the stark differences in resources and support available to patients with different cancer types. He is determined to help drive change in this area.

Rob holds a PhD from Charles Sturt University in the area of consumption taxation. With his research skills and experience, he aims to contribute to the review and development of current and upcoming clinical trials, other research activities, and advocacy efforts on behalf of sarcoma patients.

Fun fact: Rob and his family lived and worked in Thailand for 12 years- an amazing experience. He still holds a valid Thai driver’s license, though he doesn’t miss Bangkok traffic during peak hour!
